Kimbo Slice Beats Tank Abbott

The EliteXC bout between Kimbo Slice and Tank Abbott ended the way many though it would and not without controversy. Action was stopped early in th first round and Kimbo was warned about strikes to the back of the head and then stopped again for something being thrown into the cage from the crowd. This seemed to energize Kimbo even more, and it wasn't long after the fight was under way again that Kimbo got the knockout.

Also, Antonio "Big Foot" Silva defeated Ricco "Suave (Seriously)" Rodriguez in a split decision, Scott Smith defeated Kyle Noke and Brett Rogers Defeated James Thompson.

So what's next for Kimbo? Is he going to be taken seriously as a professional MMA fighter? It's difficult to say because this fight was anything but traditional MMA and while Tank Abbott may have been his most formidable professional opponent thus far there are certainly more difficult challenges ahead for Slice.

Bas Rutten has obviouslsy done a great job training Kimbo. I'd really like to see what Kimbo's ground game looks like. At only 33 years old, Kimbo still has a way to go in MMA. Last nights bout with Tank was a very entertaining fight, that's for sure.

Kimbo definitly is going to cause some discssion in the MMA world, especially as there are few good heavyweights out there. I would like to see how he does with someone who is in top shape though. I think Bas has done a good job so far, and I think he will get Kimbo will get better

I think people are on to the right thing here. Kimbo the street fighter is no more, unless that's all he has to be. Thus far in his 2 MMA matches, he has not had to show his well-roundedness. However, he will need to do so in the future. Then we will see how profoundly different street fights are from MMA. Kimbo's training with Bas and other elite mixed martial artists illustrate his determination to exit the street fighting realm and become an athlete. Hopefully MMA fans will appreciate this.

I've been a fan of Kimbo since the beginning, but for the freak show of it. He still hasn't fought anybody who isn't on a losing streak, so I'm not convinced. Kimbo Slice
